GoTranscript was founded in 2005 in Edinburgh, Scotland. During that time we found that audio transcription was a big pain point for both clients and transcriptionists. Clients were having difficulty finding high quality and reliable transcription services. Faced with a large number of orders, transcriptionists had to spend too much time and effort transcribing and trying to maintain quality. We decided to focus on audio transcription and build a system that had quality checks and balancing built into the process, minimising the manual work required for transcription and allowing for the processing of large numbers of files.

I’ve submitted a couple of videos in which almost straightforward conversations are interspersed with sound effects and musical backdrops, and the transcriptionists have blown them through effortlessly, with little to no manual editing to do in post, which makes my job much easier. In addition, I was very pleased with the professionalism of this company, even though I forgot some (read: more than “some”) curses in the content when I sent the material. I feel more confident in working with this company and I am happy with the preferred captioning service at the rates offered.
My first experience with GoTranscript was very good. I paid for the transcript to be completed within 24 hours and it was delivered within 2-3 hours of placing the order. The areas that the person could not understand were clearly marked so that I could easily fill in the gaps. There were only a few minor errors. I’m a fan and have forwarded it to my classmates.
The response I received was of a high quality, but the timing of getting them back was a little disappointing. However, your customer service team did deal with the matter, which is appreciated. It would be nice to have a system to reduce the time spent on clips to save costs. I must have misread it as there was a long silent period in the clips I sent and I thought it would be skipped and not charged, but still charged. Would be a nice addition to include in a future version.
