At Sprout Organic, we believe that breast milk is always best, but we also understand that breastfeeding is not always feasible or a wise personal choice for all mothers, in which case formula is the only safe option.

Due to its unique advantages, breast milk is undoubtedly the best source of nutrition for infants. However, when breast milk is not available to infants, the only suitable and safe alternative is a scientifically developed infant formula product as the sole source of nutrition to meet the nutritional needs of infants up to 6 months of age.

Not all infant formula products are created equal. Caregivers who need to use infant formula should be able to make informed choices about the infant formula products they purchase. Information on packaging must be improved to include more information about ingredients to enable mothers to differentiate between products. The inclusion of such information is consistent with the International Code of Marketing of Breast-milk Substitutes (WHO Code) and its local interpretation. In other developed countries, such as Canada, the United States and Singapore, infant formula packaging can display information such as Omega 3 DHA, which helps support brain and eye development and allows parents to understand the differences between brands and the different products within the brand range. However, in Australia and New Zealand, the inclusion of this information on packaging is currently prohibited.
